Primary radical pair [P.sup.+][H.sup.-] lifetime in Rhodobacter sphaeroides with blocked electron transfer to [Q.sub.A]. Effect of o-phenanthroline
Article Abstract:
Transient absorption spectroscopy is used for studying the decay of the primary radical pair [P.sup.+][H.sup.-] in Rhodobacter sphaeroides R-26 reaction centers with blocked electron transfer from [H.sup.-] to [Q.sub.A]. The conformational states are controlled by the charges in the vicinity of the [Q.sub.A] sites as disclosed by the effects of [Q.sub.A] reduction and o-phenanthroline-mediated protonation of the sites close to [Q.sub.A].

Theoretical consideration of the use of a Langmuir adsorption isotherm to describe the effect of light intensity on electron transfer in photosystem II
Article Abstract:
The electron transport through photosystem II (PSII), measured as oxygen evolution, is analyzed in isolated PSII particles and thylakiod membranes irradiated with white light of intensities in steady-state conditions. It is inferred that the Langmuir equation is a unique mathematical formulation of energy and electron transfer in photosystem II.
